Amphibious Unloading

Post by hbrsvl »

Playing US in Guadalcanal scenario. Marines have conquored both Lunga & Tulagi. Is there a rule, rule of thumb, table or anything to show rate of unloading either over beaches, or in small capacity ports, such as Lunga? When a LCU is landed, does it take supplies with it? Knowing these would help in scheduling resupply & reinforcement convoys. As always a manual reference would help. Thanks, Hugh Browne

LCUs will take supplies with them provided you had some space on your TF.

As for the table, yes there is. I can't give you a manual reference, sorry. I know I've seen Mr. Frag post it on a similar topic however. It's here somewhere [:)]

There are two types of unloading in the game (probably where the confusion comes from)

One is a normal friendly base unload activity using regular speeds. (page 98 formula)

The other is a hostile unloading where you are unloading at a hex where an enemy force is located. The speed is governed here by the type of ship involved doing the unloading. (table on page 99 of the manual)

There is a third special type for Fast Transport TF's but it is really wrapped around the concept that a Fast Transport TF will never *load* more then it can *unload* in one round. This is *why* you must set the destination before giving the load order. It needs to see the destination to be able to correctly judge how much can be taken.

NOW it makes sense! I was always wondering why I got different loads for the same TOE unit to different places..

Thanks Frag.

Mr. Frag-Many,many thanks. I have skimed the manual, but can't remember everything. I think this is a GREAT game. IMHO, the only other game that approaches WITP is Hearts of Iron, by Paradox. Hugh Browne
