Game Crash

I just downloaded the Starshatter demo and have installed it but whenever I try to start up the game my screen turns blue and I get the old and irritating "A fatal exception 00 has occured" message and I hit enter as usual and then I get back to my desktop and the game has crashed, AAAH!!! can someone help me?
