Birthday Boy

I use the word boy as i am certainly not that any more. Today i am 73 and feeling very very old and tired. I am thankful that my mind is still active and my body is too. Although i have a lot of pains which i never had before i still get around. I am lucky in that respect. I have lost most of my hair and the body doesnt look all that good in the mirror. My teeth have started to go into the dentist tray i still have most of them.

I have had a lot of bad times but they have been off set by the good times. So all in all not too bad of a life if i may say so.

The most amazing thing that happened to me was meeting my wife of the past 44 years. She is the best thing that ever happened to me. Its amazing she never seems to get any older in my eyes. When i look at here as i am doing right now she looks like the day i saw here.

So on this day of my celebration my 73 birthday. I would like to celebrate the fact that she is with me rather then the fact i have been around so many years.

To my wife Sue Thank you for all you mean to me. I love you deeply and will for ever.

Wuotan where are you from in Germany. Spent some time there in the 40s. Always liked the people i met there. I was mostly around Munich. My wife is of German decent too. Bronner is her Grandpaerents name.

FNG have you ever heard or been to Burntwood England. Had a buddy in the British army who was from there. He always kept inviting me to come visit there sometime. For the life of me i cant remember his name. Of course this was back in late 40s. We were both in Germany at the time. Think he was a boxer or something. He was always talking about the gardens people had around there. I think i have the name right im even foggy on that.

Sorry, but i had been ill for some days (all right now).

I am from lower-saxony (south of Hannover). So i am from Cheruska, not from Bavaria
[:D]. We have a lot of hills (around 300 m) with forests, little rivers with willows on theyr sides and black/white cows. And small villages, with crossed horse-heads about the entrys of the snow-white panel-wall houses... and sometimes in the morning, when there is a
lot of fog about the river "Leine", you may be lucky and see young women washing theyr swan-dresses... no, i am not working for a travel-agency [;)]. I have been in Munich when i was 16 years old... man, even in germany it is hard to find such a quantity of different, delicious beer in the "ordinary" stores...! I couldn´t resist to give you a little
view of my nearest enviroment. So, how is the place where you and your wife are living?
With my little english-abilitys you may misunderstand me, but i would like to say that the
internet can be a VERY great place to meet people... from other countrys, and, yes, of
your age (and wisdom and politness and the ability to enjoy a game like SPWAW).

Wuoton sounds very nice in your part of the country. I spent some time around the black forest country. Loved it there going around the small hamlets and villages. Also spent some time in a place in north part of Germany. Dont know if this is right or not. Essweigge or some thing that sounded like that. Cobblestone streets winding down thru the village very nice.

My wife is from Cincinnati Ohio across the river from where i was born. Very industrial district here. We live in a 15 floor high rise apartment building, two blocks from the Ohio river. It is a senior citizen apartment house. This is in Kentucky where i am from. Years ago they had a very large German community iin Cincinnati in an area they called over the rhine. This is where my wife was raised. Most of the buildings there have gone to the dogs so to speak. In the south of Kentucky is the horse capital of the states. Down there the country is very beautiful. Lush green rolling hills with the horses running all over the place.

I have always wanted to come back to Germany and visit Munich. Never seemed to be able to get the cash together to make the trip tho. Loved the Garmish area and Bertchasgarden country side. Please forgive me if i butcher the names dont mean too. Thank you for replying to me and describing your part of the world.

Burntwood is a town just north of Birmingham, so if you look at a map of the UK, it's about a third of the way up offset slightly to the left (near the northern extremity of Wales). I've never been there myself, but have been to Birmingham a few times. I guess these days it's probably more of a suburb of Birmingham than a separate town.

I'm originally from from the western side of London, but live these days in a fairly bland town called Swindon. It's about 80 miles west of London, and while the town isn't much to write home about, the countryside around is really nice - lots of woods, rolling hills & Salisbury Plain to the south. It's near to places like Stonehenge, Avebury, Silbury Hill, the White Horse of Uffington and lots of other Neolithic/bronze age sites (cool if like me you like archaeology/ancient history).
