map icons series 2 part 1

Post by CobraAus »

I am just starting this series and have early results to post
What I am trying to achieve is
1 change the troop icone (coloured circles to troops with coloured backgrounds to show nation
see below for chinese
2 change map symbols for bases to villages or cities depending on nation and tech level

to show early results I will have to post 3 threads
this is number 1

I have working on the grahics all day now ch jp & us done
this harder than I thought troopers are only 11x12 pixels and cities 22x16

in attched screen shots US base has hngers sub pens control tower
jap towns have cargo port with crane and goods staked up + huts
chines have local villages

trooper have color bar to right side to reflec color changes that take place
still havent worked out the need for 4 city icons

Looks great !!

Question, Will they cover up the names of the bases or other items ? The icons appear bigger than those in the original art ?

Thanks !!

Somebody please kill this before it multiplies.
Put my faith in the people
And the people let me down.
So, I turned the other way,
And I carry on anyhow.

No it wont cover up names the icons are bigger but I have tested it out and all seems ok if you are using MYDOS enhanced map it will part cover the oil level
indicators but you can see values
nearly finished update ( new sea mine icones - new non identified TF icons
