WAWver5.01 problems

While I was back in Ohio last week, I downloaded version 5.01 with a cable modem and it did not take very long.

Last evening I installed the new version and when I was alsmost finished, I ran into several problems. First I received a error message stating " A decompression error has been detected (#7), file CRC mismatch-data integrity error Sdn\steream\vid998.smk. It gave me the option to retry and I did this several times but kept getting the same error message. I hit ignore and went on. Later I received the following messages: The following file is in use and can not be updated: C:\Windows\fonts\Menu\.ht close all other applications. The only application that I had open was Windows explorer and I used it to access the file on the CD. I finished the install and tried to open the program and I only can get to the program page and when I click on play WAW nothing happens.

What do I do next? Also I am still patiently waiting delivery of my campaign disk and the game disk, when are they supposed to ship?

This happened to me also, try downloading the vid988smk file, about 60mb, unzip to the snd/stream folder. Evidently something is screwy with the installer, and must not like the vid988 file, unfortunately the v5.1 mech.exe is coded to only play with the new vid988, so just putting an old one in won't work either. Pain in the butt, I know, but it should work. I just settled for using my old beta version 5.0, till whenever my cd shows up, I've got no time to dl stuff.

Thanks for the response, I hear what you have to say, I do not have time either to download such a big file. I have tried several times to downlowad version 5.0 and I keep getting disconnected. Right now I have about 30% of it downloaded and just got disconnetec again. I am going to keep trying since it appears that it is going to take awhile before we receive the disks in the mail.
