How critical is Supply/Convoys?

Does Germany have a realistic chance to strangle Britain's supply line by sinking convoys with submarines? Historically this was one of Britain's main problems during the whole war, and I'm wondering if Germany can defeat or significantly destroy Britain SOLELY by blockading her with subs.

Yep, supply is absolutely critical. Shutting down the Atlantic is a viable, and some would say essential, German tactic.

I play the latest round of AI tests as WA, and I noted German AI uses not only subs in trying to isolate UK, but also long and short ranged aircraft, which I like to see, and is historical.
