Scenario Editor

Post by 76mm »

I have not yet bought BiN, but it sounds great. Before I buy it, however, I have some fairly detailed questions about the scenario editor and I can't find a downloadable manual or any screenshots. I've had a few questions answered on the main forum but most of those folks seem more interested in playing the game (fancy that!) and I don't want to bore them with additional detailed questions. Anybody here willing to point me toward a manual or let me ask some questions?

I can e-mail you the PDF file for the editor, if Matrix or SSG does not have a problem with me doing that. The file is 436 kb. If someone from Matrix or SSG is looking here, let me know??

Dear Tony:

If the company doesn't mind, that would be great...you should be able to send it via my e-mail link in the forum. I bought HttR mainly for the scenario editor and then found out it didn't do what I needed it to. Still a cool game, but...

I'm not even interested in the editor at this point. Maybe later when I get time to play with it. I rely on the good folks at Run 5 to take care of that for me. They do an excellent job with their user scenario's. [&o]

Hi Treale and 76mm,
We would prefer that the pdf manuals were not sent around, as they form part of the download purchase. If you are looking for specific info on the editor, you can post questions here and I (along with alot of other helpful people) will be happy to answer them. You can also search this forum (as many questions have been asked in the past), and lastly, you can head over to www.ssg.com.au and look at both the Scenario Editor Tutorials (the Korsun Pocket ones are still largely applicable) and go to the run5 discussion forums linked from the ssg home page. There is a forum located there dedicated entirely to scenario design/creation.

As a last resort, you can always feel free to contact me at support@ssg.com.au

Dear Alex:

Thanks for your response. I guess I can appreciate your position, but I think you can do a lot better job describing and marketing the Scenario Editor--it sounds very cool, from the little that I can pick up about it. I haven't seen any screen shots either, although I might have missed those on the various sites.

I have also looked at the tutorials, etc. at SSG re the KP editor, and they are helpful, but I thought that the BiN editor was "much improved" over the KP editor...but improved how...I can't find anything on that? The promo site for the game has cryptic statements like "Evolved Units can change their characteristics mid-game"...what does that mean? And the "scenario developer" part of the BiN site is deadsville so far.

I don't mean to be harsh; the game, particularly the AI and the editor, sound great, but you could make it easier to understand how great it is (or how it's great).

No problem Alex. That's why I wanted to check with you first.
