Aircraft Support

Post by scout1 »

I'm still very new to UV. I have one airfield with few A/C but ALOT of aircraft support. Another airfield with ALOT of A/C but little aircraft support.

How do I transfer the aircraft support to the airfield with all the planes ?

Look for the units with 'Aviation Support' squads and move them as you see fit.

OK, what units have Aviation Support and how do identify them. Once ID'd, how to I move them over 1000 miles of ocean. Fly them ? If so, are they considered troops ?
Don't mean to be blunt, but I'm frankly missing something apparently easy here ?

mostly it is base forces that have the 'Aviation support'.

Click on the units present at the base...you will see the unit compsition. In that composition, there will be 'Aviation Support' squads.

Don't forget the Allies have C-47 Dakotas in large numbers and Catalinas can transport ground units (including construction engineers - minus bulldozers) to coastal hexes without airfields. The IJN also has transport aircraft.

Select a transport squadron, give it a troop transport order and select the unit to move and the destination.

Just a tip. If you air transport the aviation unit supporting the originating base, remember that any aircraft that break down will remain there until you can bring in more aviation support squads to repair the aircraft. Solution, have two aviation units at the originating base and only transport one out.
Cheers,
Reg.
