Napoleon on the Danube

Post by vonspor »

This is my first game from Matrix. I have installed it and added the two patches. After making some moves, I hit the continue botton and got the following message:
Wave Out Open
WM System 004
Devise is laready in use
Wait until it is free.
That as far as I have gone. What is wrong?
This game is on my Pent. II Laptop.

Others have had this problem (scroll down to July messages and you'll see a short thread). The suggestion there was to ensure that no other program was actually using the sound card, but I'm not sure if the problem ever cleared up for the person. Also, make sure you install to the default directory and not anywhere else.

I had the same problem. I updated my sound card to the latest driver and the problem was taken care of.

Make sure to upgrade to latest sound card / sound chip drivers.

Same problem - My drivers won't update - already have best available !
Switched game music off and got past "continue" - but after several turns ( & battles )
game froze just prior to victory report ( after showing the same message).

Can anyone help ?

No reply after two months - What kind of service is this ?? [:-]
For those interested. The game works ( no crashes ) if the music & the sound effects are switched off. I normally play games without the music - but here it's a shame because the
music is great. Pity about the crap music programming.
