Two questions

Post by 39battalion »

A very interesting game and full credit to the designers.

Two questions 'tho after playing for a while:

1. The supply system does seem to be rather underdone and unrealistic. Automatic re-supply at 3am even if a unit is surrounded just doesn't cut it. Any chance of a more realistic supply system in future patches or games ?

2. FOW doesn't seem to work properly. When I look at fatigue or cohesion for my units I also see this information for enemy units. This doesn't seem right. Am I doing something wrong here ?

Apologies if these questions have been addressed before.

The unit condition information you get on enemy units is always an estimate and may be highly inaccurate. Check the 'Reliability' indicator for an intel report to get a feel for whether you can put any credence on it - in general I wouldn't ever go taking unit condition information as gospel.

Thanks for the explanation Golf.

I'm pleased that the information re the enemy units is not necessarily accurate. I like FOW.

Thanks for the explanation Golf.

I'm pleased that the information re the enemy units is not necessarily accurate. I like FOW.

I've been very impressed by the fog of war in this game. Almost always, the strength of the enemy is overestimated (though not always) and often the AFVs being used are misreported. I did notice a funny little quirk - the Allied AI (for whatever reasons) seems to identify almost all large tanks in the very first reports as Char B tanks - a French behemoth from early in the war. Afterwards, it usually revises its guess to Tiger IIs or Tiger Is. Finally, when enough contact has been made, it'll identify them correctly - often lowly StuG IIIs.

I don't know how many times I've jumped at reports of Tigers assaulting a given position, only to find out that they're PzIVHs or even StuG IIIs. Once, I actually ran into a Tiger II unit - it took my by surprise - my virtual men had been crying wolf (Tiger!) so often that I discounted the one true report.

In fights with American paratroops playing as the Germans, I've seen companies exagerrated into battalions. Those Ami gangsters are tricky - and tenacious fighters too.
