Reload, don't reload?

Evening, just a quick question here. I've recently patched up to 4.0.3 and started getting some nasty CTD's. I've also upgraded to SP2 for XP during this time. Now, no other games have been adversely affected, but my question is this...should I start my campaign over for fear of a saved game not playing well with the new patch? Or am I doomed to having to reinstall the whole game again?

Also, I'm seeing the bug where the mission starts and I'm hovering in the wrong sector sans carrier with my wingman the same way. We launch from the invisible spot and then start the mission.
