Harry speaks!

Post by Cheesehead »

Harry Rowland posted numerous messages on WiF discussion group (Yahoo) yesterday. Most of his comments were regarding some rule change suggestions coming out of Euro WiFcon. It seems that Russia got toasted 50% of the time and they're trying to figure out ways of improving Russia's survivability. At the end of one of his messages, in reply to a question on cWiF, he offered this nugget:
As to CWiF, Matrix are beavering away on it and expect it to be out next year.
The more e-mails sent to Matrix will see it going up the priority list on their
production schedule.

Regards
Harry

Hmmm, fire away, boys!

How come the yahoo group didn't authorize access for myself (hehehehehehe)?

Did the Soviets conquer Persia (see: WiF strategy quiz for Japan)?

What optins are used?

Discussing this with other lads who know that WiF will not come out 'til well after FPG; I think we are at least looking at Fall 2007. Yep; 3 years. Everyone I know says Rob is kickass but this is only a part time job for him.

Anyone care to differ?

The most important option used is the 2D10. You cannot play as the Russian side with the old time-tested strategies. The 2D10 is far bloodier and if you are caught out of position as the Russian, the German will be knocking at the Urals, and the oil in no time.

Why would Harry say next year if it's not coming out till 2007? Is Harry out of the loop at Matrix?

You'll have to log on to http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/wifdiscussion/
to find all that out...there is a raging argument going on about altering game balance to prevent Russian blow-outs...especially in regards to Russo-Japan diplomacy. Very interesting.

Harry is a nice guy so dont get me wrong, but his release dates are a little let me just say 'optimistic' at times.[:(]

2007 is a long time to wait for WIF. I kept waiting patiently for harpoon 4 and it kept getting delayed until is was cancelled after about it's 4 developer. I worry that WIF will never be adapted to the PC, and that would be a bummer.

I for one will be happy when Matrix even just starts to work on the project.
