Installation Errors, File 4 is corrupted

I have downloaded the 3.9.0 demo many times, and every time I try to install it, it runs some error with the fourth file, this time it says it cannot install something-something-4319.zmp-something. Any help? Is there any way I can link to an FTP of the complete, installed demo, tranfer the whole thing from there (on cable), and then install a registry key?

Also, for some reason or another, I cannot get the system to reset my password for my real acct., Sard. I'm using Firefox as a browser, everytime I try to confirm email with either that account or this newly created one, it states that the email is already or cannot be confirmed.

Lastly, Hi Mehrunes. It's Spatch/Sturm/Vicious Penguin from Darkspace. Finally have a name I can stick with, Sardaukar. You should check out DS 1.4826, it's laggy, I hear, but beats the old one. We need our vets back. Hey, is TheDeadlyShoe still around here? Haven't seen him on DS lately...

What 'crazy rules' would you be referring to?
There're mods and one dev here and they'll shut stuff down if it gets personal (I honestly can't remember this happening) or too off-topic. Otherwise, 'good judgement' prevails, i guess.

Where have you been d/ling the 3.9 demo from? What OS are you using?

3000A.D. has psycho rules, such as "one typo, and you're banned" and "Speak English, or just get out of here". Glad to know things are regular here, was afraid I had broken something...

I'm using Win98se, and I've downloaded it from all the mirrors at starshatter.com.

Hrm...win98 might be the issue. Has anyone else here had problems with the 3.9.0 installer in win98? I use XP, so I dont know how compatible the installer is with older OS's.

I have also had the same problem installing the demo, i'm also running a Win98se.

Ihave tryed downloading it 4 times (from differant locations).

Hmmm... Does anyone have the fullgame installed successfully on Win98se? Strange that the demo would be borked. It always happens with file 4, generally either a four digit number like 4041 or a number like -208289-something, something to do with an error writing to c:\windows\temp. Again, could someone at the server-end of this run a temporary FTP with the installed DEMO, and the necessary registry key insert file? This is killing me... The only other "Capital Ship Freeform Sim" I can get a hold of is Battlecruiser Gold, but it keeps on locking up and the tech support for it is evil incarnate...

I just got a new computer over the week end [:)] which runs on windows xp pro.
i though i'd give the demo another try and...
it worked!! [:D]
though i still think there's a porblem if win 98 won't run it
