I think i need help.....

Post by Hornblower »

Night has fallen. All is quiet. The apprentice is over, and Lady Hornblower has fallen asleep on the couch. Horatio slowly and silently rises from the couch, puts a blanket on Mrs. H, and takes the company provided laptop [:D] from its case, and boots up. Clicks on the WiTP icon and the Dell starts to hummmm.. Horatio is carfull to change the Properties to 1024 x 768 and turn the volume down… SHHHH Then we head into the Kitchen and remove a tumbler from its home in the cabinet and proceed to pour a liberal amount of Tangeray and diet tonic (watching my weight you know[:(]) and head back to the PC. Change to the History Channel and its off to battle- 3 to 4 hrs of WiTP and Gin/Tonics later I fall asleep.

Question is… WHO ELSE DOES THIS?????? Am I the only closet WiTP player? Do I need to see a support group?[8|][8|][&:]

I get the o-dark-hundred hours as a my "legitimate" WitP shift.

We have a 12 week old, and my "shift" is from 10pm to 2am. If Matthew wakes up, it's my job to change or feed him. It guarentees my wife 4 hours of sleep. 2am to 6am is her shift. It guarentees me 4 hours of sleep (I leave for work at 7am). Sometimes he sleeps during one or both of our shifts.

I've only ever needed about 4-6 hours of sleep, so it works for me that even if Matthew is sleeping, it's not so compelling for me to "sleep when the baby sleeps" (which is good advice by the way). But from 10-2 is usually when I play WitP. Matthew doesn't mind watching WitP while I'm feeding him.

I get up at 4 a.m. on the weekend. I usually get about 4 hours in before the rest of the household wakes up. It's relaxing to be playing WITP and watching the sun come up. Now, if I can keep from nodding off while the computer is processing the turn, I'll have it made.

Hornblower, we dring the same drink, even with the diet Tonic! Yes, it is a great late-night game after She Who Must Be Obeyed as retired. I am often emailing moves after 1AM.

By the way, love your books, but prefer Mr. O'Brien's accounts of your colleague Lucky Jack Aubrey better. Also enjoy the exploits of your future distant relative Honor Harrington.

When I wake up in the morning I run a turn while I shower and eat then review the results and plot the next. When I get home from work I execute this turn. Then it is onto the treadmill while the next turn runs. After stopping to plot I get in 3 turns during my hour on the treadmill.

I also have the History Channel as well as History Channel International in the background. Even went as far as to buy the Victory at Sea DVD collection when nothing good is on.

The difference detween us is that I am not addicted. I can stop ant time..really I can...well maybe after this turn........
