Suggestions for email software?

Post by Fred98 »

My Outlook Express is broken and I can’t fix it.

Looking for another email programme.

Unfortunately I can’t use Eudora as my ISP does not support it!

Any other suggestions?

This is quite common. A malicious trojan has attacked outlook express and people are looking to alternatives as a complete install doesn't not work unless the registry is cleared. Not sure if this is in your case.

My ISP provides a web mail service. And it uses my same email address I had on outlook. Only the mail is stored on their server and not my computer. I didn't realize they offered this service until I told them about my Outlook biting the dust. Ask you ISP if they have such a web mail service.

Yes they do and I use it now.

It is especially useful when you are travelling and use a foreign computer.

And I sometimes use the feature to delete junk mail before ut reraches my computer

But I would rather hit "Send and Receive" and download my mail.

Are there any "computer repair" service for like bug-busting that you could get hold of and have them come look at and possibly fix your computer so your Outlook Express would work?

Mozilla Thunderbird is a good alternative to Outlook Express. It also is less susceptible to the kind of security problems that bedevil Outlook Express.

Do you have a firewall and anti-virus software? If you have been hit with a trojan or virus you could try a removal tool and it may remove the trojan/virus for you.

You need to know what specifically has hit you but here is a site with a lot of easy to use removal tools:

Mozilla Thunderbird!

I like it much, much better than MS Outlook (regular, I've never used Express).

It seems rock solid, very fast, and it has just the right controls.

My old Piczo site seems to be gone, so no more Navajo Nation pics :(

I am of the view thta there is no trojan or virus. Rather, one file of Outlook Express has become corrupt.

I havwe since discovered that my ISP will allow me tio use Eudora so I'll reckon I'll use that.
