Drop tanks

Post by Jorm »

how do drop tanks factor into aircraft ranges in the game editor ?
They appear as a seperate device i nthe device list but no aircraft has them as a load out ?

any one have any clues on how to make use of them
ie
if i want to add a Mig-15bis with max range of 800 km or ~ 1100 with drop tanks, any clues on how to do this.

Mig 15? You doing a Korean War scenario there Jorm?

If you are, and need some graphics done, I'd be happy to do Iowa 1950, Essexes SCB conversions, and Fletcher/Gearing/Sumner FRAM mods for you.

IT might take a bit though, seeing as how I have 2 other projects going.

I have been tossing around a Korea 1950-53 thing, just to see if the engine can handle it. Course, that's in the future one WPO is done, provided I don't expand on it. (Which I probably will).

Drop tanks, jets.... pffft, get yourself a biplane dude [:D]

har
well i still have my 1936 war plan orange mod on the back burners
but as yours is so advanced and looking veru good , theres no point to contiune with it
however it would be nice to have the 1936 french fleet out to play
anyways
ill have a play with drop tanks or wait for some one who knows more about how they work ( if at all) in WITP

cheers

Actually, go ahead and do your 36 mod. It is a completely different concept, so there is a good reason to continue it. A 1936 start would be a more historical start, with fewer carriers in no Pearl Harbor. That is nothing like what I am trying to acheive with my mod.

one of the major pains with a 1936 mod is i cant find anything that tells me much about the land unit dispositions in china/japan of that time.Ive picked up a few books by a journalist/author of that time called byswater ( or something like thta), but they are very poorly written and pure fantasy, oh well

Do what I do. Rip out stuff you know didn't exist (tons of Tank Battalions, armored Divisions, SeaBees, etc) and leave what is left. Besides, I don't think you want to change too much of the land combat stuff, so it doesn't screw up the AI. That's the approach I am taking.
