War in the Pacific Font

Post by lorddreaman »

I recently bought War in the Pacific but it is unplayable for me. All of the words in the game are barely readable. It is no exaggeration to say that I need a magnifying glass to see any of the words in the game. Can anyone lend assistance?

Try setting your screen at 1024 x 768 or 800 x 600 maybe
your resolution is too high......

Guys I have tried tuning my screen resolution and it did nothing. I do not any way to change the font size in the game. I would hate to think I wasted a hundred dollars on this game. I was really looking foward to playing it but I haven't been able to since I bought it because the words are just too small to read. [:(] [:(] [:(]

Unfortunately I don't think its something that can be fixed, as I dont think its a bug. Looking at the files in the WiTP directory, it appears the screens were hard coded to be at 1024x768 and the fonts were designed to be that small. As I start getting into WiTP I've noticed the same thing, that it is too small to be read comfortably. Maybe when I was younger (and I'm not THAT old right now), but now its not worth the eye strain to play this game.

Uncommon Valor had the option for 800x600 as well as 1024x768, and thus is more playable for me. I have put off playing WiTP until I get a bigger monitor (I have a 17" LCD)

I would still E-mail Support@Matrixgames.com

I don't see anything in system requirements that says that simulation is to be played at 1024X768 only.

Agreed the system requirements don't seem to state the screen resolution, but the manual states "War in the Pacific - The Struggle Against Japan, 1941-45™ will only work in 1024x768 mode; 800x600 is not supported." Of course you have to buy the game to get the manual, a bit late to found out that only a single screen is supported. The only way to change the game size is to run in windowed mode, and this will only make the game appear smaller if the screen resolution is greater than 1024x768.

I would think Matrix at this point should post in the sysytem requirements for their simulations the actuals, so you don't need to purchase the simulation to get the manual, to find out the simulation won't work on your machine[:-]

The system requirement for WITP seem not to make any reference to screen resolution

No matter how you look at it these two people are out @ $80.00 US plus S&H, possibly the price of a new video card and possible a new monitor.[:-]
