How do you set the point totals you want for a battle or campaign?

I've found Campaign generator and World War II Campaign. But what's this Long Campaign people keep talking about?

Thanks![:)]

On the Preferences screen.
Leaving the AI at XXX allows it to adjust it's forces dependent on it's mission.
The AI will purchase it's force relative to the value of yours.
The gnome zaps a wand of death. (Nethack)
Don't get hurt! (XCOM: Apocolypse)
Incoming firepower has the Right of Way!
Fire at Will (or Wesley)!

Your force value includes the experience of your troops if I'm not mistaken. When your troops get better there will be more enemies as well.
