Patch Imminent - Finish Your PBEM Games!

Battles In Normandy is the third game in the Decisive Battles game series. Battles in Normandy recreates all aspects of the Normandy campaign, from the landings on the first day to the final climax of the campaign at Falaise. Strategic Studies Group rewrote the Decisive Battles game engine for Battles in Normandy with a host of new special rules for amphibious and airborne operations, plus a huge number of other enhancements.

Patch Imminent - Finish Your PBEM Games!

Post by alexs »

Hi People,

I know this has been mentioned before, but I thought i would reiterate - The patch should be released very soon, and this is just a reminder that PBEM games created with v1.00 will NOT be compatible with v1.01. This includes both secure AND unsecure games.

What about games against the AI? Will these be compatable with the new patch?

Changes have been made to various scenario files which means that the system will alert you that things have changed. You can force the system to proceed, but that's not recomended, as we can't predict what will happen, so it's better to finish single player games before applying the patch.

If you have the drive space, one can create a BiN1.01 folder and run the patch on that iteration of BiN. All shortcuts and associations will be with BiN1.01. To play BiN1.00 turns, one must go to the BiN1.00 folder, start BiN1.00 and then load the turn.

But If I copy BIN directory, I will not have the Uninstall function with the new version if I want delete it later.
If I delete a program without the Uninstall function or a similar tool, I can damage my disk.
Is it possible to install the game again (this time for BIN 1.01) ?
And what's the procedure to follow ?
Thank you.

Charly,
We dont support running both the v1.00 and v1.01 versions simultaneously. I would suggest you finish your current PBEM games and saved games, and then apply the patch. Alternatively you could abandon the games in progress and start them again after patching.
