First Win

Post by Hard Sarge »

Well finally got a win in this game, Monty's landing (an MV) of course, I think the win was a little gamey, as it was mainly due to the Para's cutting the road lines behind the front and taking Falsace (?)

which brings up a point, does interdiction do anything to supply ?, there is no way the GE troops had any fuel or food during this battle

to make matters worse, the GE was blowing bridges left and right trying to cut off the Para's, even making his supply line even more damaged

also, does interdiction even work in the game ? been watching the AI move from one side of Caan to the other, though nothing but interdicted hexes, with no hassle (isn't that the point of the whole battle, the GE were not able to move during the daylight ?)

plus not so sure the AI is that good in the game, it really does look like it is just cheating, any importent battle, you always roll a one, while I have yet to see a AI attack that failed to do any damage (of course, I only have 10-12 games under my belt, LOL in fact just found out how to find the VP loctions)

oh, and another thing, how does a 88 Battery on the road, be unable to be attacked by a GB Div, a Mortar unit would make quick work of it, let alone any Div Arty

which to follow that line of thought, there should be something for road march and defending in a hex, I caught two GE Div's rushing down the road, with 3 GB Div's, and I couldn't do a thing to them, they were too strongly Defending the area, but they were not defending, they were in road march, just after passing though a number of interdiction hexes, in real life, that was a major mistake and those units would of been chewed up

still it is a good game

LOL
but I have done some work on random numbers too, I think cheating is the wrong term to be using, but it does look like there may be a "Mod" added to the die roll for the human and one for the AI, which then does not count as a cheat

last game, I broke the line though Caan, the AI made a mistake in moving some troops, left a city hex open with 3 of his Arty units sitting next to it, moved a Div into the open city hex,and got a great CRT, believe a roll of 1 and I get 1 damage point, a 2 or higher and I get at least 2, I got the 1, damaged one Arty point, the GE counter attacked into the city hex and I took 11 steps of losses (had 16 there)

one I want to know how it was able to mount a 10-1 attack on the city

Oh Well, if we couldn't complain, we wouldn't be happy [:-]

This sounds like the one and only time I played Axis and Allies with my ex-wife ... I got a string of snake eyes that basically ended the game on the first turn. I lost so bad it was beyond embarrassing. Makes one shy away from dice games after a while.
