Default screen resolution

Post by iaidoka »

Has anyone had problems setting up the default screen size in their start up icon? When I change the command line as recommended in the manual and on the forums, it does not work and I have to select the screen res everytime I play HTTR.

PS: I am writing this at work and cannot remember the error message I get. I will duplicate the problem and copy the message if needed.

Cheers in advance.

Take a screen shot of your command line and either post it here or send it to "support[at]panthergames[dot]com"

Thanks Arjuna,

The command line is "G:\Highway to the Reich\HTTR.exe /resolution 1024x768"

When I click OK to make the change, the error message says the name 'G:\Highway' specified in the Target box is not valid. Make sure the path and filename are correct."

Needless to say, the path is correct as the game runs without problems. I am a bit of a computer nitwit so am prepared to be embarrassed by not having done something basic.[:)]

iaidoka,

are you including the quotation marks at the beginning and end of the command line string: you will need these, due to the spaces between Highway and to etc. I suspect that is why the error refers only to "G:\Highway"

The problem is your shortcut. It should be

G:\Highway to the Reich\HTTR.exe -resolution 1024x768

not /resolution.

Try that and let us know if you still have problems.

Thanks Steve.

FYI, the manual and one of the threads here say to use '/'.

Andrew, yep the shortcut does refer to everything within in the quotes.

Ill check if Steve's suggestion works and report back.

"N:\Matrix Games\Highway to the Reich\HTTR.exe" -resolution 1280x1024

is precisely cut and pasted from my shortcut which works fine (after help from the guys here in a similar but older thread)

tm.asp?m=564066 is the older thread (not sure if the links work right, it's called " Resolution Box on start up " and was started by Miller Logan

Thanks - we've fixed that for the COTA manual.

It works now - it was the confusion between using '/' and '-' and checking the apostrophes are in the correct place.

Thanks for the help.
