Gates of Troy and Spartan???
Ok I have Gates of Troy, what (if anything) do I get if I buy Spartan? More options, larger world, more senarios?

Basically from what I can tell, more scenarios. To be honest I already had Spartan before getting Troy so I don't know how many more scenarions there are.
And you won't need the cd in to play all the scenarios.

All the scenarios that are disabled in Troy become active if you have Spartan. I think it is 4-12. The biggest benefit is that these scenarios are more varied in size and therefore duration, and that you can play Spartan over the Internet through Gamespy.

Not being an internet player, $50 seems a lot for rather modest additions. Thanks

Spartan retails in the shops in the US for $30. The publisher is Graphsim, so you can probably order direct from them. You also get a 64 page printed manual.
The UK vesion has a wallchart, but it more expensive for you to import.

Spartan is actually selling for 10 dollars in many USA shops right now...it is worth it for the additional scenarios....

It's well worth the $30. It's one of the very few retail games I bought last year. But, I thought I'd give Slitherine a shot and they didn't let me down with the "released" version, although I was pretty upset with the 1.017 patch dumbing down the AI, until I found out how easy it was to modify the AI back to pre 1.017 version 1.013 which I love.

RE: Gates of Troy and Spartan???
I've seen several news bits referring to the fact that Spartan will be available via the Online Store, but as of yet it hasn't shown up for purchase. Since the last news I seem to be able to find on this is dated over a month ago, I was wondering if it is possible to let us know when this will all come about? I really would like to fill in the campaign gap of 4-12 as so far I've really been enjoying this title and want more! [:)]

Ichirou,
We had hoped to have it available by the beginning of this month, but our pre-Origins production schedule has not cooperated. There's still some work to be done on our side before we can put it up for sale. We are still planning on this before Origins, so please check back. Thanks for your patience.

Thanks for the quick response Erik. I had forgotten about Origins, so I can imagine things must be a bit hectic. However now that I know it will be fairly soon I will have no problem waiting for things to sort out. Thanks again.

If you like the style of game you should also check out Legion Gold & Chariots of War. Both available for download from our website. These are the pre-cursors to Spartan & Gates of Troy and set in Rome and the ancient near east respectively.

Ah, thank you much for the info and those links, Iain, I shall head over there ASAP and look into these new (at least to me) titles. And since I have your ear, thank you very much for my new addiction! I look forward to more fun from Slitherine now that I've found you and your games. [:D]

Just got legion gold online....
Online sales are great. Love being able to download and activate the game right away without having to travel to a store. [:)]
Enjoying the game very much. Simple yet quite fun. Has that 'one more turn' type effect to it.
