French 1920's fleet

Post by Jorm »

For my own fun , One of the things i plan on doing is adding a small french fleet to support the french colonial indochina.

you mentioned that there was no room left, have you used all the device/ship places in the WPO database ?

My original plan was not to include them, based on 1) lack of ships, and 2) I had used all the ship device slots. After some rediting, and cleaning, there are enough device slots to add in a small French contingent. I am against this for 3 reasons.

1)It would set me back 1 or 2 weeks to collect resources, add the ships, do the graphics, and then put them in all 5 scenarios/campaigns.

2)The US Asiatic Fleet/China station is fairly big, consisting of about a dozen subs, a good number of destroyers, a couple of armoured and protected cruisers, and a number of gunboats. They should handle all of FIC's garrison requirements.

3)With the Royal Navy in the game, Japan is going to have a tough enough time attempting to win. I really do not want to unbalance things further.

That said, I am already planning after WPO's release to add in the French Navy, but right now its something I want to skip (as it was not in the original design) to try and get WPO to you guys as soon as is feasable.

I support your decision to hold off on the French Fleet for now,

But if they only have a small number of ships would this really unbalance everything? Don't want to get paranoid but I hope the balance is not that easily affected by a few non-capital (?) ships.

Anyway, keep up the good work. I think the screen shots have looked great.

Its not that the fleet that is there will inbalance, but if I add a few cruisers and destroyers, people will want battleships. And more battleships is not good for Japan.

Hey, thanks for the support. I'll see if I can't post some more screenies in a few days.
