Tactical Maximum Rating

Post by StCyr »

Is it possible that there is no more Tactical Maximum Rating but only Tactical and Strategic Rating for every Leader ?

I dont think so...

I understood that there will be no max tat ratings, so any leader will carry at most 10 corps, from what Marshall explained to me.

But as I said, this will change completly the land combat of the game, since nobody will have negative values for carring more corps!!

And Marshall says he did play several games of EIA ?
If he is going for the 10-corps-version, all I have to say is that he did not understand this game at all. What a shame.

This was lifted from the EIA Setup thread........

"4.4.3.7 Tactical Maximum Ratings
Each leader has a “tactical maximum rating”. If commanding more corps than this rating, the leader's tactical rating is reduced by “-1”,. Regardless of the number of corps commanded, the tactical rating can never be modified to below zero.

For example, if Napoleon, with a tactical maximum rating of “6” and a tactical rating of “5”, commands from seven to twelve corps, the tactical rating is reduced from “5” to “4”. He cannot command more than twelve corps.

All corps participating in a battle are counted for determining a commander's tactical rating.

No leader may command more corps than twice his tactical maximum. If additional corps are present in the location, they do not participate in the battle, but must retreat as per 0 if their side is required to do so."

Is this what you were asking about?

Yes, it is! just to add this:

12.3.7.2 Further Tactical Rating Reductions: (optional rule)
... have the tactical rating reduced by "-3", with fout times that corps to be reduced by "-4", etc. ...still never be reduced below zero.

J. P. Falcon -- the set-up thread you quoted above, is that from the Matrix version of EiA, or are you quoting the original (or Avalon Hill) board-game rules? If it's from the Matrix version (which is my suspicion, as 4.4.3.7 in the original rules is about Conditional Peace), then this whole discussion is moot, and it looks like Matrix IS including the Tactical Maximum Ratings (which I agree is very important).

Before we all get our panties in a bunch about whether TMRs are included, I think a definitive yes or no from Marshall, or some other Matrix employee, is what we need before we start flinging ultimatums around about not buying the game, etc. Anyway, that's my two cents.

Read the EIA setup thread so that you can get the quote in its' correct context.....my impression is that it is included, but since I never played the board version, I am not the best judge of these rules.......
