Need Map Making help Please

Post by rigunz »

Greets All

When i used to play Steel Panthers a few years back, I remember thinking it was the easiest map making program I had ran across. Me and my roomate would make maps all the time and play on them insted of the random boring map that useually pops up.

I recently bought version 8.3 and have loved getting back into the game but the random maps are still a little boring if you want a mix of infantry and tank fighting. Ive been playing a few made up by players and love the Bogage ones, Hurtgon forest, as well as the Hungary map but would like to get back into map building.

Ive looked and tried everything I can but can not seem to be able to find the map editor or make a map.

Should i be looking under Freds Wawmap thing or a editor for the game??? I have no clue as where to start...

Did they take the map editor out of version 8.3??? Im so lost :(

How did something so easy become so hard to find.

Thanx for all your help

Rigunz,

Do you have an early version of SPWAW still on hand? If so you could import the Chlanda folder from it over to your new install.

Outside of that you can download them from here as well: Chlanda's Utilities

Hi Rigunz.

Don't fret. The map editor is part of the scenario editor that comes with the game. Click on the editor option and then in the scenario editor you'll see Map and edit about 2/3 of the way down the screen.

As Orzel pointed out, Fred's utilities are still out there but he hasn't updated them in a while. I usually use the map editor that comes with SPWAW for my maps and then use Fred's stuff for more advanced stuff that you can't do in the standard editor.

Hope this helps.
