Campaign Scripting

Post by Paradox »

Okay so like I'm in the middle or Operation Shining Fortress and the Titan Fleet and I have nothing more left of that areas enemy but the Cyclops BG and the Elos squadron. By the numbers we outnumber and outgun them by probably 4 to 1 maybe even better than that. So I jump into Borova to take a quick look and sure enough the the Cyclops BG is there and launching. So figuring it would be best to regroup I jump back to my staging area and exit out to go to my next plan.

Message: CV Titan DESTROYED!!!

Okay what in the world is that? There was no way it was destroyed since I was (a) in control of it and (b) We left the sector to regroup. Not to mention that My BG and the other four were still pretty much intact. We had the numbers and firepower so how in the world did this happen? Not to mention that because of it the whole system was handed over to an enemy who's size the local Cival Space Patrol could handle!

This screams of an issue with scripting. It tells me that even if the last ship running on the enemy side was a frigate the script would say that the Titan was destroyed and there was no chance of that happening. If anything the command would take a cruiser BG to assist the Titan in removing ehat was left since there would be plenty of reserve forces available.

Anyone care to take a stab at this?

Oh I almost forgot to mention that after the so-called destruction of the Titan they handed the system over to the enemy but after the next mission they gave it right back to us. My guess is the engine finally tallied up the numbers and figured out there were not enough enemy forces to hold it to Force Command ordered us back in. No general in the world today would have had a fleet fall back from a battlegroup. [:(]
