Downloading

Matrix Games and Simulations Canada combine and completely remake two classic NATO vs. Warsaw Pact wargames into a new classic. Based on the original wargames “Main Battle Tank: North Germany” and “Main Battle Tank: Central Germany”, Flashpoint Germany is a new grand tactical wargame of modern combat. Every aspect of modern grand tactical warfare is included, from advanced armor, air and helicopters to chemical and tactical nuclear weapons. Step into the most dangerous war.. . that never was.

Downloading

Post by leastonh1 »

Hi all,

After reading the forums and reviews, then futilely looking for a demo of FPG, I've just thrown caution to the wind and used my credit card. The game is now downloading at 60.6kb/sec on my 512kb connection. It's just not fast enough though. Can I complain? [;)]

These forums are a great place to read about the wonderful games by Matrix and seem very friendly. Yes, I'm a lurker, but do own a few Matrix games already and love them.

I'm really looking forward to playing this game as all the reviewers seem enthusiastic, particularly considering it's a 1.0 release version! It just goes to show the quality of the Matrix productions I suppose.

22% finished...come on....hurry up [&o]

Yours in anticipation,
Jim.

Your maiden post and it is in the Flashpoint forum! Another victory for the good guys.

Welcome aboard, Jim, and we hope you enjoy the game. Matrix does indeed have a real community of gamers and that is a very special part of the total experience. I was a long time lurker too before I was drawn out and became a citizen. There is no going back afterwards!

Cheers, Rob.

I suggest you get a faster connection. I downloaded the entire game in about 15 minutes using a 3 MB connection... Digital River has tons of bandwidth if you have the service to utilize it. Its among the fastest consistent download sites I've seen on the net.

Don't complain. [:)]

Indeed I am pleasantly surprised by number of first time posters in FPG forums lately! Seems like this game "de-lurkerized" some people, or perhaps drawn entirely new players to the genre.

In any case welcome aboard...

Thanks for the welcome [:)]

Well, it did finally finish downloading and only took an hour in the end. Trouble is, just as I completed the installation, my wife dragged me out shopping for 2hrs....for clothes!!!!!! I didn't even see the splash screen until we got back home. Oh married bliss eh?

Anyway, I'm just working my way through the first tutorial and so far I am very impressed. I'll post something in the first impressions thread once I complete the tutorial.

@Commc - No chance of an upgrade, unfortunately. I'm on wireless dsl as this is the only option where I live and it is twice the price of normal adsl. Around £48/month compared to cable which is less than £20 iirc. Ouch. I'll stop complaining now [:'(]

First quick impression

Post by Adam Parker »

Happy to say just got my copy too [:)]

Download went without a hitch again - well done Matrix again.

Fired up the game without reading a word. And then using Robert's tip of shift selecting units to copy orders, quickly moved a long column of Soviet armor in the first British scen. Saw my lead unit retreat after inflicting and then taking loses [;)] Mmm. Time to read the rules!

First quick impression - Kudos Robert on allowing pre scenario human force deployment. This is a rarity in PC gaming taking one of the best elements from board gaming that hopefully will be copied by many other games designs.

Adam.
