Game of the Year Award!

Post by JosephL »

Starshatter took a reputable third place in the READER'S CHOICE awards for simulations at The War Gamer.

Good work! Read the full article here:

Congrats milo!
You know what they say, don't you? About how us MechWarriors are the modern knights, how warfare has become civilized now that we have to abide by conventions and rules of war. Don't believe it.

Huzzah!

Although I am puzzled that Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth beat out Dawn of War; the first was really quite badly balanced and with unsatisfactory gameplay. Pretty, though.

Finally, the independently produced Starshatter took home a well-deserved third place, perhaps only shackled by its lack of brand and genre recognition versus the IL-2 machine. Starshatter is a space sim in the classic line of X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter, Wing Commander, and Elite. Starshatter is the product of just one man, yet it offers remarkable 3D graphics, Newtonian physics, and charming gameplay. It's hard not to cheer for this underdog project.

Underdog project? [:@] (trains A and B turrets on author of the article...)

Hooray for SS!!![&o]

Probably means game is barely mentioned in major game magazines. I read 2 major finnish magazines which include game reviews (one is game magazine, other is about computer) and both lacks Starshatter reviews.

[edit]
Staff knows about the game, they just don't bother make article out of it.

lotr is an awsome game,

dow is good, but the campaign is WAY to short and its only one sided, if they had a longer camp, and for each side it would have been a LOT better, lotr has a NICE long camp for both sides, and its REALLY a lot of fun, the battles at helms deep and minas trith where the most fun I have ever had in an rts
