Japanese taking control of Allied Ships!

anyone have a problem with this?

I've been having AP's and AK's and one lone CL being taken over by the Japanese computer control, and taking these ships to one of their ports to "pick up a unit and uload at..."
I can take back control, but after a turn or two... the JN take it back.

one ship went all the way to the enemy base, and then was immediately bombed and turned into a coral reef.

any ideas?????

Any zones on computer control? If not then exactly what port is this happening from and did you recapture the port from the Jap AI at some point?

I had all but East and Southeast under computer control...

when this started happening, I put the South under my control and it still keeps happening..

the "hijacked" CL wants to head to Japan... a few APs want to pull troops off of Truk (isolated base) and another is Medang, but none of these have ever bee under my control.

maybe if I put everything under human control?

Had this bug too. Under what control is your base? I´ve got this bug if I take an enemy base and it stays under an enemy command. If I take Chandpur and place some ships there every two or three turns a TF is formed because the base is still under British HQ. It´s the same problem with my aircraft. Placed in a base under enemy HQ and my aircraft forget their ordered target. It´s reset every turn. This doesn´t happen if the base is under my control and my HQ. If I change HQ I have to spend PP but the next turn it´s again an enemy HQ. My base under enemy HQ and then these two bugs appear: planes forget their ordered target and TFs are built.

I've never taken control of it, just beat the crap out of it and left it to wither...

the same for the other bases... never touched 'em. Medano and Kobe... they seem to be the ones the hijacked ships are heading towards.

Any ships at sea have this happen?

Or is this specifically ships in port at a base that once was enemy.

In my case, only ships in port have gone crazy. And the planes of course.

seems to have happened while the TF's were either anchored or docked at a friendly base.

the only time I noticed it maybe happening at sea is when I would send it back to it's home port and it would attempt to defect again!

it could have made it back to port and then head out again... didn't notice.

A couple of folks have reported this. It appears that for whatever reason, the AI thinks it still owns the base so anything put there it takes as it's own.

Don´t place planes or ships in a base if it´s still under enemy HQ. Look at this example. I took Lunga, now it´s a Jap base still under Allied South Pacific command. If I place ships there, now and then they go wild. If I order my bombers a specific hex as target they just ignore it and it´s reset to commanders disrection the next turn. In my case this happened also in Chandpur! Seems to me it only appears if a base is taken by an amphibious assault, never had it if i attack from landside. That´s nearly a game breaker if you´ve got this bug in a real important base and you can´t really use it.

I reported similar stuff there:

Yepp, I have it the other way around as Japanese in Soerabaja(sp?). Disbanded about twenty merchants and some escorts there just to find them send to San Francisco to pick-up whatever there is I played this game several time (taking control and disbanding the TF) just to find them in a new TF a turn or two later. Now I keep them in a TF or sent the to other bases. Only MLs kept in harour for repair.

I abbroached S. over land, so no, I don't think that it matters how you got your claws on the base.
I think S. is put under allied control when it happens, but I would have to check this again.
'My' Lunga is/was under allied contol but conducted Naval Attacks vs. allied shipping anyway.
Edit: No, so far it did not happen to ships in TFs, no matter whether docked or not.

If I put planes on naval attack on Lunga they also attack. But if I order a specific target e.g. port attack on Efate they do a port attack on another port. Have you ever had this? They don´t accept "my" target, AI just switches to another target. Next day I check target is reset to "commanders disrection" although it should stay on my ordered target until "I" change or reset it.

is there a way to see if the base is still under an enemy HQ? I'm playing against the Jap AI and don't know of a way to check that...

my problem is with Palau... took the base... no enemy troops left, and it's now my HQ base for invasions of PI & NG...

If you look at the base's HQ, it will *not* be one of yours as the AI has toggled it back to one of theirs.

the same is true for a Palau, Saipan, Yap and a few others in the Marianas... except Guam...

another update on this...

REALLY a game killer at this point...

I spend the first part of every turn re-directing "hi-jacked" TF's...

now they're even coming out of a base that has been captured AND is normally listed as US Navy base, as opposed to Palau, Yap and Ulithi still holding IJ Navy status after capture.

I guess just a report for next version...

Seems I've been hit with this bug after taking Noumea... As Japanese..

OTOH it seems that the allied AI thinking noumeas its port has been sending supplies and troops to it... and my KB parked there is having a field day sinking allied shipping.. I had sunk Lex,Sara,the E, yorktown already in action nearby losing one CV and one damaged, and just sunk the hornet that was sent down towards suva... [:'(]
