How many threads must be locked..............

Post by Scott_WAR »

Before you realize it was a mistake not allowing the digital download to happen when the game went gold, as normal. How many potential customers must get upset before you realize you made a mistake? Maybe you will learn from this, dont make your loyal customers wait needlessly.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that the answer is at least more than the current number of locked threads, which is zero.

LOL, Im just pointing out that more than one or two people were upset. Since there is a SOLID release date, I think most of the groaning is over. I just hope Matrix remembers the complaining, and moaning, and how many threads had to be locked, and doesnt hold out the DD on us next time.

Oh and by the way, so far at least 3 threads have been locked,....not zero.

Actually there are 2, caused by the flames over the "I can get it on ebay, why can't I get it from you" discussion...and people giving the guy a hard time.

Nothing to do with digital downloads...

There was the one where I and two others expressed displeasure over the DD not being available until retail, that was locked. It all boils down to the same thing, it was announced the game was gold, most people expected to get it immediatley. When they couldnt, they started to try and find out when the release date was, and THAT was where the real problems started.

I am just pointing out, if the digital download wasnt held back, we wouldnt have had ANY of these discussions, and I dont think any thread locking would have been needed. But, that is just my opinion.

Yes. I noticed that there are a few locked threads. That is B.S. I would have given my two cents and defended Matrix' position against this Hiroller guy or whatever his name was. Instead, some admin got 'lock' happy and I was unable to do so. Stop doing that.

P.S. Paul, the guy deserves to get a hard time. If you don't to do it in fear of proper PR, I'd understand that, but the guy was being an ass. The bottom line is that the game will not be available until the 28th.

And I have to agree here, there is a way to make a point without being a jerk. Even if I am disagreeing with someone I TRY to be civil about it.

Becasue it erupted in flames between customers.

IT wasn't locked becasue you complained, as your thread title implies, it was locked because we didn't feel other customers responded very civilly to your complaint.

Which was duely noted.

Since retail releases are not likely to be all that common, the point is partly moot.

We could just not announce the status of future games in this category until they are shipped to retail.

I generally think most people like to have as much information as we can give. But understand that problmes can arise.

No, it is not helpful to have customers intimidate and drive off other customers. We appreciate support, but we don't want fresh faces to worry about a virtual mod descending on them.

He had a bad attitude. Many responded inappropriately. I stand by locking the threads.

I will do so again in a heartbeat if customers trea other customers badly.

Ah. The lock doesn't show up very well on the side. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Still a tempest in a teapot.

It seems this wait is having a negative effect on some, I guess it is natural. I know the Axis & Allies fans in particular are always eager for the hopes of a better CD to replace the last junk that came off the assembly lines. While it may ‘suck’ waiting for a chance to grab the newer title, imagine how much it would suck if you finally got it and the blasted thing turned out to be another Iron Blitz. So just relax.

Me thinks I will play a bit with the TripleA engine while waiting for W@W to hit the shelves.

Triplea is a great program. You can even play revised, and they are working on Europe and Pacific. Very highly recommended.

Well, I was one of those customers giving that customer a hard time...and whilst you stand by your decision to lock the thread, I just want to point out I stand by mine to give him a hard time (in the end).

He came on the boards spouting bullshit and once people started to point out he was incorrect, he wouldn't listen and started getting defensive in a confrontational manner.

I wasn't "sticking up for Matrix" per se. I was annoyed at the guys attitude. I had responded politely and appropriately and he started to get arsey...with other customers also.

Virtual or not, I stand in my corner...I do not apologise for it.

It's not my nature to be confrontational until pushed. Many people had tried to point out he was being foolish...as it was, he suddenly realised what an arse he was being and performed a disappearing act.

And one other thing....I don't know why people have to have something right away. Whilst I understand peoples anxiety to wait, why does it cause such a problem...it will be here when it's here.

Young people think they must have everything NOW. We are old, we don't remember - perhaps we were like that when we were young.

This game is going to be as good in a couple of weeks as it is now. Better spend the time to discuss strategies, nuances, read the AARs...

Seriouly, he was out of line and i'm glad it was locked as i(we?) grow tired of listening to all this moaning and whining about something we are waiting on too[8|]

Us old folks like things right now also (we don't have as much time left for waiting[:D])

It is real hard to discuss nuances if you have not played the game - no matter how many AARs you read.

Seems like most of the "It will still a good game in two weeks" and "It will get here when it gets here" folks are the ones who have been playing the game for the last 6-9 months.[:-]

Theres a reason they lock those threads. Because stupid and utterly pointless online arguments like those never go anywhere, and any loser can just keep going and going on a forum. It's obvious the guy who started that thread was a pussy. He didn't start it for the sake of concern or for support of the game. He did it solely to be a dick, nothing else

Damn, I can't be on these forums constantly! I never get to see these interesting 'threads' before they get locked and/or deleted. I miss all the good stuff. [:'(]

Excuse me. I am 58 going on 59 and I can't WAIT:) I got to have it NOW:)

The delays don't PO me ...it's the retail stores with their phoney release dates that po me, especially when I read here the 28th and EB still says 16th. I think when they don't get it the 16th they figure out it's delayed haha. I rather they just say in development and for those who really want to know will check with these type forums.

As to the highroller kid...I would have told him..go buy it at Ebay and you'll have it before us..LOL.

As to DD yes that was a major disappointment because you were expecting it. Perhaps if the info not to release DD was mentioned earlier there would be no let down. As it was we were told when it went gold. But..we'll get over it...I guess....
I mean if I get run over 4 days from now at least with DD I could have played GGWAW as my final moments on the planet:)
