WAW Runs Fine on My Windows ME

Post by Johnus »

Installed retail WAW on my system. Pentium 4, Windows ME, 512 RAM, GEForce 2MX. Runs like a charm. I don't know which is more strange. You guys not willing to say WAW may run on systems older than 2000 or XP, or me dropping $40.00 on a sneaking suspicion that it just might run on my system. I'm barely competant on my PC.

I know you want to be responsible and don't want to market something to owners of the older systems when you can't support the older systems. So I'll say it for you. WAW ran right out of the box for me with Windows ME.

I bought the XP upgrade for my ME just to play this great sounding game that I have been following for months. Now I am wondering if I even need to upgrade to XP. My main concern is I dont want this XP upgrade to cause unexpected problems since my ageing Dell has run so good since I got it.

So my quetstion is has anyone used the upgrade to go to XP from ME? and has it caused any unexpected problems?

MrQuiet,

I upgraded my 4yo Dell from Me To XP late last year. I wish I had done it sooner. No longer do I get freeze ups or the blue screen of death associated with Me. Software that I was having a problem running before now runs fine. XP is very stable compared to the Me operating system. XP has allowed me putting off buying a new system for now. I hope this has helped some.

Thanks for the reply. I backed anything important to me up, cleaned house, defraged and took the plunge tonight. So far pretty smooth sailing. Updateing a lot of drivers now. Very glad to see internet conection still works and router seems fine.

Looking foward to getting WaW installed and playing.
