What if germany don't attack...

Post by nukkxx5058 »

What if germany don't attack netherland and France during the FIRST game turn but delay the attack one quarter?
Is it still possible for germany to win ? The game seems to be very unbalanced in favor of WA.
With Germany, on sea it's a real disaster and also, production seems to be very low comparing to WA. No ? (i didn't play a lot so far so my jugement may be simply wrong). Thx for your point of view.

Well, yes - not attacking France on turn one would cause a disaster. That's why you attack France on turn one :P

Why would germany not wait one more season before attacking france ? I don't see any reason why it would be a so stupid strategy (it's just a question of decision making and I don't think there is an absolute optimal time period to start the war. However, I have the feeling that in this game, this strategy leads to a systematic german failure. That was actually my question... So what do you think ? and after all, why nor attacking Russia at turn one ?! everything should be possible ... I don't see why it's particularly stupid (if of course you consider war is not stupid ;) ).

First, your forces are not properly positioned for a turn 1 attack on Russia.

Second, if you do go for Russia, what will you do with your tanks? If you send them east, you will not have them to use in France.

Taking France on the first turn is easy and you need the gained resources etc. You also don't want the sizable French fleet in the Med to attack the Italian fleet. You also don't want the WA to have a turn to ship reinforcements into France.

I could probably go on, but I think not hitting France on turn one is nuts. I could see saving Yugoslavia for turn 2 since the turn 1 conquest involves mostly militia and can be pretty bloody and might even fail.

I always take, Netherlands, France, Denmark, Norway and Yugoslavia on the first turn. You then have 4 turns to consolidate and rebuild this stuff while getting ready to hit the Russians.

Personally I think the game heavily favors the Germans. Sure world conquest is close to impossible, but the victory conditions only require you to hold out long enough. This is pretty easy if you don't do anything foolish.
