2 noob questions...

Post by hmsmystic »

Greetings all, longtime HOI player new to the WAW game.

Having some fun after my 1st 2 games, but I have 2 questions I hope you can help with.

1) Supply- Is there a way to view, during or before the production phase, how much supply you need to create?

2) Is it possible to install the game with the same serial number on 2 machines? I have it on my work machine, which runs fine, but the game won't run at home (I hit play, red bar scoots along, then nothing)

Thanks all
I'll have a bloody Mary, a steak sandwich, and a steak sandwich...

Greetings all, longtime HOI player new to the WAW game.

Welcome, thanks for your purchase.
Having some fun after my 1st 2 games, but I have 2 questions I hope you can help with.
1) Supply- Is there a way to view, during or before the production phase, how much supply you need to create?

No, simply because the amount of supply you will need varies greatly depending on what you decide to do. An all out offensive, moving lots of forces around and conducting attacks will use a lot more supply than remaining in a more defensive state with mainly strategic movement. Since the game has no way of knowing which you plan to do, it can't provide a projection. The best way is to get a feel for it by looking at the supply usage for different actions in the manual and deciding what you'll need based on your plans.

There are some rules of thumb to follow, but these vary from gamer to gamer and definitely also depend on the side you are playing. Personally, I try my best never to let supply fall below 50 and if possible I keep it above 100. That gives me options on each turn and keeps me from being constrained by supply if I need to react to a sudden crisis or a second front.
2) Is it possible to install the game with the same serial number on 2 machines? I have it on my work machine, which runs fine, but the game won't run at home (I hit play, red bar scoots along, then nothing) Thanks all

Yes, as long as it is for your personal use and you don't use both installations at the same time we have no problem with that. Please post a DxDiag file for us from the machine that is having problems. See the support forum for instructions on how to generate a DxDiag and post it in a new thread as an attachment. We'll do our best to get both machines up and running as long as they meet the minimum specs.

Regards,
