Auto Victory off

Post by Rattlehead2005 »

I have played like 5 games now with auto victory off, and no end date. I play as Japan, and let the A.I. play as Germany. Its basically the same situation everytime, by 1945 going into 1946. The Germans have surrounded Moscow and have them cut off, and i have moved into the mainland to meet the Germans. I also have kept the WA out of the Pacific(for the most part), and China is Kaaput. Of course the WA have taken Southern Italy, and France. So Germany has pulled back, and left me to conquer Russia. Out of these 5 times the AI and myself have conquered Russia ONCE. Now i saw in another Thread about someone saying that the Allies NEVER surrender(which is also in Manual). So using "auto vict." shut off, and "no end date" on, is pointless. Well i never get a chance to find out because of post 1945 crashes(even after patch). However the ONE time we took Russia out, for some reason everytime it came to Russia's turn it sat there for a while before next turn. Im assuming the AI(Russia) was thinking what to do. Which is odd considering they were eliminated. So in conclusion, i guess the bottom line is.......Why was this option(no end date,no auto victory) put into the game???

Ermm.... to play as Allies? [8D]

I always use this option when playing (or playtesting) as Allies vs. AI. Of course I expect to beat the AI within the historic timeframe, but I want to leave this option open, to see what's going to happen if I don't manage to win by summer 45.

But, of course, from Axis perpective, playing past summer 45 - things can only get worse...

BTW I love AI spending some time when "playing" the side that has no territories. I imagine AI agonizing over what to do, and beating itself on the forehead for losing the war [:D][:D]

ROFL yeah. Its like........."Deal with it Russia, you got wrecked, now stop thinking and move on dammit" but seriously, im wondering if this is causing some crashes im having when playing past 1945 with Axis. As the Axis is NORMALLY, not suppose to pan out this long.

512(yes i know, i need more) but that should be sufficient for this game......Not to mention, other people are using 512 without this problem.

The options were added for those wanting a fight to the death capability. It is assumed that if you do this, you should use a bidding system to choose the Axis player, as the Axis will need help to balance the game this way. Is this the way in which the game is structured to run best? No, but it should run. If you are getting crashes, please send saves to 2by3@2by3games.com and we'll try to fix it. We choose to give players added flexibility, epecially in human vs human games by adding these game options. I admit they were tested less than the standard game and it is possible there are problems (especially with the AI after 1946). We will try to fix bugs if they can be confirmed, and getting a save that replicates the problem will go a long way to getting this to happen.
All understanding comes after the fact.

I have sent a saved game 1 turn before this crash to 2by3@2by3games.com. along with DXDiag report, and the files needed(txt. files as i have made a few changes in resources)for it to replay. Hopefully this will be looked at and addressed. As of now, i intend to leave game alone completely untill this problem is resolved....

Thnx......

Well im happy your not having the issues i'm having. I am curious though, as you say your in 1949, and the AI is doing "fine". What side are you playing, and what are the game preferences and game options set at??
