Landing troops on islands?

Post by Warspite3 »

I am trying to land troops on wake island and other islands that are enemy controlled. I am not sure how to do this, is this different then doing an amphibious assault on a coastline? I can't seem to land any troops on any islands so I must be doing something wrong.

Could use a little more detail on exactly what you're doing to try and land troops on an island.

I have them stationed on one island, midway I think, and want to invade wake. I have transports lined all the way to wake. I get an illegal move message and wake island is not even occupied. I also tried loading the troops directly on the transports but I can't unload them on wake. In fact I can't attack any island because I can't land troops.

Do you have enough Amphibious capability in the Sea Zone with Wake? Remember that on Allied Transports, Amphib is only 3 and you need 5 to drop an Infantry. That means you need 2 Transports (and 1 supply somewhere along the chain) to get one Infantry 'on the beach'.

Hope it helps.

You need supply on invading forces strating point (in this case Midway), and transports with enough amphib capability in destination sea zone. Amphib capability is NOT the same as transport capability - amphib capability is used when doing opposed landings such as the one you're planning.

You will need minimum of two trasnports in the destination sea zone, probably more. It is advisable to attack and neutralise his artillery prior to invading.

Forgot to mention, I am using standard supply rules in this game. Anyway, I did not realize I needed 2 transports per infantry. I also did not realize that transporting and amphibious are different as far as capacity goes. Thanks for clearing this up, I was able to take a couple of islands. [:D]
