AI did a big oops

Post by jgonzo »

When things go ahistorical the AI seems to have blinders on.

Here it what happened

I as WA (normal level) gave a hard fight for the Med, which I won and a moderate cost. The Germans had a tough time of it with very bad luck. They did not even take Norway. Well in the Fall of 1940 they left Rome open with me having 2 transport off the coast. I talk to my home guard and they said they always wanted to see Rome. SO i sent them.

So I in the fall of 1940 I have 1 WA militia in Rome. I expected it to be taken back the next turn. Lo and behold the AI decided to ignore the lone militia and prep for the invasion of Russia. the next turn Germany still ignored it and launched the Russian invasion. Not once did Germany pay attention to the love militia man. So it is 1943 and I now hold all of italy and Have a large force in rome I routinely bomb Germans factories, rail and unit from Italy. Also Russia has had an easy time of it and they are now securely in Finland. The might SU navy has actually came out and fought the germans in the baltic sea.

The devs might want you to send a savegame with that unattacked militia unit.

In any case, your story is one reason you should try a PBEM. It's a whole different ballgame against a human. My first PBEM is halfway done (we're up to 1943) and we've been at it maybe a week? Very fun.

I am starting to play a game with this thing called a HUMAN.

I know I already made at least 3 mistakes and that was only the first turn.

Yeah, I thought I knew this game until I started playing a human. You have to be that much more efficient against a human; it really has helped me learn the game.

Yeah, actually, playing the AI just serves to teach you bad habits. Playing another skilled human is where the real game begins.
