In search of a (semi-)competent Axis player

Post by Glabro »

All right, time to try the PBEM.

I´m a moderately good player, but not that experienced in this one (I have 4 SP games under my belt). As my first PBEM game, I´d like to try the Allies in a game against a reasonably good Axis player, who does not mind that there is no end date or autovictory possibility for him - this would be a war to the finish, and the objective would be to do as well as possible in the war - not win by game mechanics.

I am willing to provide the Axis with a small supply help, as well as a battle help value of 1 if desired ( I recognize the superior troop quality of the Axis).

About FOW, I am not experienced enough to tell the battle casualties before actually moving the troops over, and often this unveils hidden enemy units, disallowing me to take back the move of the first unit. In SP, I load when this happens, but since I probably can´t in this game, perhaps I´d have to play without FoW on...

I can probably play as fast as you can. I have a loooot of free time....

Send me a private message or reply here if you´re interested.
I´d like to make it a 1v1 at this point.

I'd be willing to take you up on that challenge now.

I'm on the west coast USA and usually send a couple turns a night.

Do you really think it is possible to loose with the allies (provided only 1 battle advantage to the axis, and no more than 50 extra resource to the axis per turn), provided the allies go heavy on heavy bomber tech, and the Russian play a delaying campain? Even if Russia falls (which would require the axis to put a lot of resources in land units and tech), the allied tech advantage at sea and in the air would make it impossible for the axis to catch up. By taking out Japan, first, and making sure they hold on to the resources in africa and the middle east, they would still outproduce germany almost 2:1 even with russia down, and with enough heavy bombers, they could make sure that the Germans never really got their production up by constantly bombing west germany......

Too me, this experiment seems pretty pointless.

I disagree with you hakon, due to the way the unfreezing of Russia and the US work I think Germany and Japan could actually achieve this goal. Main thing would be to take out England and most factories in Russia and probably put some pressure on India because these are the only places where serious production occurs before the US enters the war.

The real problem I see is that the total destruction of the US would take very long to accomplish using conventional methods.

The first PBEM I will play as Axis I will test a few theories I have on this subject.

I'll take on anybody who wants to give me a +1 DRM to both Axis powers and 50 free supply to the Axis (ie 25 each to both Germany and Japan).

Hi everyone, I´ll keep your offers in mind. I haven´t remembered to check this thread (I was expecting private messages), and have now completed a game against Svein, with me as the Allies, and sure enough, trounced the Axis up.

Now, I feel confident enough to try it myself - I´m going to be playing the Axis from here on out. My second opponent will be Aletoledo. As I seem to be taking an ungodly amount of time per turn (though I still do that turn every day, sometimes two), I don´t want to have two games going on at the same time.

I´ll let you know when I´m ready for a new opponent - that is, if you´re willing to try the Allies. So far, we haven´t used the DRM and supply advantage in either game due to the wishes of the opponent, but I´ll reserve judgement on that issue until I´m finished with this game.

And to the person who said it would be pointless - ultimately everything is, if you think of it that way. Winning is utterly pointless, what counts is having fun and exploring what-ifs, for me at least, anyway.

Golly, is there any way at all for the Axis to lose with that phenominal advantage? [X(] The supply alone would free up 10 industry points a turn to go into tech which would add more pain to the stinging +1 attack bonus. [X(] I shall offer up a prayer of mercy for the allied players marching blithful to their slaughter. May your death be quick and somewhat painless oh ye who sticks his head on the chopping block.

Pepper is stored in kegs at peppermills which rodents find nice to bed in at night. Pepper therefore is estimated to contain between 0.01 and 0.03% rodent dung in it which ends up being ground along with the rest of the goods.
