Zero unit isn't the leader?

Zero unit isn't the leader?

Post by Larry Holt »

Its '41 in a generated campaign, I have a German recon section. the 0 unit leader is a 2LT and the 1 unit is a Sgt. The 1 unit has the () as in (1) indicating that it is the leader?! I think that the (0) unit might have been killed so the 1 unit took over as (1) in a previous battle. It seems that when I fixed all casualities, the (1) did not give up its leadership position to the (0). I know that 2LTs don't always get much respect but this seems like a bug to me.

Yes this happens all the time.
At least in versions prior to 6.1(still not installed) :(
But's quite normal because these Lutennants
were quite green, so dont talk about 2nd LT's :D

Happens to me all the time. If you want to change the leader to be the 0-unit, when deploying your troops select "assing unit to another formation" and assing it to the same formation as it was originally and the 0-unit should be the leader. This works for me with v6.1.

As I recall the leadership will filter to the 0 unit eventually.

In my case it may have been that the new leader got killed later and the 0 then took over or it might have been that the 0 got enough experiance and passed the other unit's level of experiance and had the () passed to it.
thanks, John.

I noted this in at least one MCNA battle as well. As I recall in this one battle I had this occur in several platoons(as many as 3 I think).

Hello All..
What happens is that if the platoon leadeer dies, then the next most senior unit leader will take ove as platoon leader. when you fix things up at the end of a scenario, this unit leader is promoted to the appropriate rank for the platoon leader, and is moved to the platoon HQ unit; And a new leader generated for the now leaderless 2IC unit. But the game still has the Platoon HQ flag set for the 2IC when you start a new scenario. This will correct itsef at the next upgrade/purchace oppertunity. (that is assuming you didn't kill off the new platoon leader!)
"We're having a war, and we want you to come!"
So the pig began to whistle and to pound on a drum.
"We'll give you a gun, and we'll give you a hat!"
And the pig began to whistle when they told the piggies that.
