Did these planes Op-Fire?

I'm starting a game as the Wallies/China against two other players, and I'm working on my first move. But as I examine my units in England, I notice that my three air units there all seem to have attacked already. I didn't order them to conduct any attacks -- at least, I don't think so -- and I don't see them conducting any attacks in the replay of the turn. Germany did attack my light fleet in the North Sea; is it possible these air units Op Fired then? If so, would that use up their attack for the turn?

It could be that I'm getting senile and just have forgotten that I already sent those air units to attack Western France a few minutes ago. But I don't see any record of such an attack in the VCR replay.

Hehe, funny you ask -- I took a break to eat right after I started work on the turn. Who knows, maybe I conducted some attack on something somewhere. Odd, though, that I can't find it as I rewind my own turn, cuz I do see my other attack there (in Ethiopia).

Anyway, it's good to know that Op Fire doesn't take away your main chance to attack.

Did you leave them "patrolling" in the North Sea when the attacks occured. In that case they will use shots.

shouldnt that be for last turn, as opposed to this turn? That would limit the usefulness of setting up patrols as they couldnt be used offensively again until the second round after they intercepted....

It'd be like punishing them twice, as they already use supply when you send them out. Then you couldnt use them the next turn because they had fired (?)

This was the very first turn, so I hadn't given them any orders at all before this turn started. I could swear I just opened up the game, checked out my units in Britain, and saw that my planes in England had already attacked something. But it's possible I was just confused. I might try an AI game to see if I'm imagining things.

Oh! That might explain it. But oddly, it doesn't seem to indicate that they've been attacked -- just that they themselves have attacked.

It may just be senility on my part. Maybe I should reload that PBEM turn and stare at it again.

Well, probably not the French...I just started a WAllied game and those are the starting aircraft in Britain.
