...and so it begins.....

Post by fabertong »

With 1.5 out, I'm ready to start two (perhaps more) new PBEM games. One as Japan, one as Allied. I can do one turn a day.
I'm U.K. based (gmt). Like one day turns, but am happy to try two day.........open to any house rule suggestions......will play until the death (i.e. I'm soundly beaten) .....let me know if you are interested.......

It doesn't really matter to me. It would take me a while to get a Japanese turn to where I am satisfied with it so if you have a Japanese turn ready to go then I'll play the Allies. Or we could just flit a coin. [:D]

I'll play as the Japanese. Let me know your e-mail and I will send you the turn as soon as it is ready.

Might be me. [:)]

Settings proposal:

Realism options:
Sub docs off (at least for allies)
Historical first turn off (I know the initial jap invasions setup sucks)
other realism options on
Reinforcements fixed or not - up to you

Game options:
auto sub ops off - I hate to shepherd AI controlled subs!!!
facility expansion off
automatic plane upgrades off
replacements off

My conditions for varied setup:
1) don't go for my carriers (I won't give any orders outside of China on turn 1, want to get a touch of historical surprise)
2) port attacks: only 1 if you hit PH, if you don't you're free to hit anything you want
3) keep your teleport invasions within reasonable distance from your launchoff bases (Mogami's rule of keeping within normal LB recon distance - 15 hexes - seems fair)

I'm always open to introduce and adapt houserules on the fly to compensate for obviuous design flaws. I'm rather the gentleman player and don't play with a bulldog mentality. Let's enjoy this!

If this seems ok to you then mail me at forrangerXtiscali.ch (replace X with @, spam prevention.....) for your idea of house rules and/or your initial file.

Hi there,

I too am looking at starting a new PBEM.

I live in the UK too but will only be able to do my turns in the evening and then send them from work next day (don't have internet at home [X(])

I'd like to play Allies since I normally play Japs.

I like a fairly realistic game in that I don't like mega gamey stuff (wiping out China for example).

What I would suggest is the following:

ASW TF's - max of 5 ships per dedicated TF. Normal TF's have no escort restriction.

Night Bombing - now I haven't tested this as yet ut if its still overly desructive then perhaps not airfield/port attacks at night. If its been toned down to realistic levels then should be ok.

Options -

Sub docs - both off
Aircraft upgrade - on
Auto sub ops - off
Historical first turn - on

Happy to do Scen 15 or 42A campaign.

I'm tempted bud. Not sure on how much time I would have though. I'll think on it and if you get no takers and I decide yes we'll give it a go.

Hello,

I think I can do one turn each day, maybe more on weekends. I assume that Aircraft upgrade is on and game is 1.5.
