Multiplayer Problem: Anyone Know Solution?

SPWaW is a tactical squad-level World War II game on single platoon or up to an entire battalion through Europe and the Pacific (1939 to 1945).

Multiplayer Problem: Anyone Know Solution?

Post by RommelDAK »

As this is my first post in this forum let me begin by saying GOD BLESS MATRIX GAMES! I bought my first Avalon Hill wargame (Kriegspiel) in 1974, and have been obsessed ever since. SPWAW is wonderful!

Okay, my problem. A friend and I both downloaded SPWAW and updated it to version 6.1. We decided to give the multiplayer option a shot (with an eye towards eventually doing a six-player game within our gaming group), so we got on Roger Wilco and followed the prompts. No problems, all the way up through the deployment screen in a battle. But, as soon as both of us were done with deployment and the computer tried to reconcile our machines: OOB error. It also mentioned a specific number (which I had recorded it now--sorry!).

Okay, so we try again, this time a scenario. Long story short: same problem. OOB error. I assume this means that my computer showed my OOB to be different than what his computer showed. Dang.

Any idea what problem this might be? He's a SPWAW newbie and certainly has not made any OOB changes. I just reinstalled the game after a recent hard-drive problem, so I had not either. One thought I had: I don't know if he did the sound update or not (for stereo, I believe)--I have not. That may be irrelevant, though.

Thanks!

P.S. Apologies if this has been addressed before--I searched the first ten pages of posts and could not find it.

We are not sure why this occurs, but for some reason the OOB files are "changed" somehow. THe fix is for one player to send the other player his files in a zip and extract and overwrite the exisitng ones.

ARe you playing a scenario of a battle generator battle?
