I found something you dont..

Post by itchy01ca »

I really do NOT like how Germany HAS to invade Russia and the US in all these WW2 games.. it doesn't really make sense to me. IM the general .. and its now. No German general in their right mind would have declared an operation against Russia valid. Hitler was the one who came up with the idea i believe.
So why IS it that in EVERY game you ALWAYS have to have Russia as an enemy ?

hehe.. btw.. i hate this feature so much i went into the Frozen.txt or w/e its called and changed it so Russia doesn't automatically declare war in 1943.. only in 1946. :D

You should get a real s*** storm with that last post. [:D]

I feel that it is historically accurate to have Russia eventually declare war on Germany. Give that Hitler & Stalin were on a fairly even level with respect to ethics, I think it fair to say Stalin would have hit the Nazis as soon as they had their plate full. I doubt that Russia would attack a winning Germany, but once they were on the defensive, Unlcle Joe (not our current incantation, who is quite nice) would have acted in the interests of Russia's security, attempting to acquire territories such as those spelled out i the Molotov-Ribbentop Talks. That would be Finland, Bulgaria, Parts of Turkey, Denmark.....you get the idea.

And the Russians DID tear into Manchuria following the dropping of 2 atomic bombs. Coincidence?

PS - I do agree with you point that the timing of the DOW's could be more variable. Perhaps after Germany has been reduced to a certain number of PP's.

J. Stalin, 1936-1941...A. Hitler, 1933-1945. W. Churchill (very rarely, and usually in North Africa). F. D. Roosvelt (smart enough to let the generals run the war).

OK, I'll bite [:D] The reason is because this is a WWII strategy game. The whole thing revolves around Germany attacking Russia. I suggest you play Risk if you want a more open-ended game.

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that this is a game about World War 2, don't you think?

You have to understand that without Hitler, there would have been no BARBAROSSA as you say, but there would have been no invasion in Poland and a Second WW.
