April 4th patch and Winter rules

Post by MrHand »

I'm admist a game with my friends, and I'm wondering if we should patch. It's now Spring 1943. Germany hasn't attacked Russia yet, but we are automiatcally at war. IF we don't patch our clients, then Russia will get a counter attack bonus in 1944 (from my understanding).

Does this bug fix for Winter counter attack affect the scenario?
7. Bug Fix - When Germans invade Russia in winter, the first winter rules are in affect on the turn of invasion. They will no longer take affect until the following winter turn.

It seems to me that if we patch that:

1. The Russian counter attack occurs the very same winter if Germany attacks Russia in the Winter.
2. Before the patch, Russia would get a counterattack in the Winter of the next year.
3. Since it's 1943, Germany attacked Russia (automaticaly) in Winter 1943, and that counts as the invasion.
3. Since it's spring 1943, if we apply the patch, then Russia will not get a counter attack.

Do I have the correct understanding?

Thanks.

Beats me!
But you ought to apply the patch anyhow, it has several good things in it [;)]

Your assumptions sound correct, but I don't know for sure.
