AI for CHS ??

Post by m10bob »

I am a CHS convert,it is more accurate AFAIK,and once committed,I don't want to go back.I especially like the inclusion of Panama and the Far East,(Suez,etc)..
The recent CHS version for 1.5 came with a disclaimer that it was not for AI,but only for PBEM..I only play AI,and want to know if another version is being worked on for those of us who can only play AI ??
If not, what version should I be using and where can I get it.(Several folks have already mentioned the prolification of mods out there,I need a road map,I guess)..[:)]

There is a lot of confusion around AI performance with CHS.

I have had several test games, run out to about 6 months, where the AI goes to sleep. The second round of attacks is never made - Davao, Kuching, etc. I've tried it AI vs AI and also AI vs Human with turns set to continious - in all circumstances I let it run overnight and checked the results in the morning.

However, several other people have reported normal operation of the AI in AI vs Human mode. I also tried the game on my old Win98 machine and it seemed to work there too. However, I can not get the AI to move on my XP-Pro SP2 machine! I have no idea what could be the problem. I've tried several things and am continuing to try. More supply, returning Japanese Merchants to full capacity, increasing moral, upping leader ability, increasing readiness for target - no effect!

Anyway, I am currently working on a personal version with even more details and hope that I can get it to work against the AI on my new machine. If all else fails I've give the AI a helping hand now and again. For everyone else - give it a try. It might work for you.

Thank you Don..Tanaka's last postings have been encouraging, and I believe he and I are also on XP..BTW,I tried an AI vs AI game, also let it go maybe 6 months, all was fine,as far as I could tell..I had to cntrl/alt/delete(and lost the details) to get it to stop..Is there a better way??

Hit F9 and wait for the current turn to finish.
The older I get, the better I was.
