yes, the old bugaboo is back. MAYBE
storage vs processing.

I think i had 3 WAW games going, internet-matrix, internet-email and the WAW startup screen.
The 512 K RAM machine works...but for whatever reason, the playback seemed to have disappeared.

Starting next morning with a fresh machine. ie one game, one WAW startup screen, no internet, the SAME file...playback worked fine.

No thorough test was attempted...as i just became happy.
learned a few things about my opponent too :)

If you mean the playback was missing the buttons on the conrol panel, that bug has never been fixed. It seems to have to do with Alt-Tab in and out of games. If you exit your game program and restart it, you should get the control buttons back again just fine. It probably does have something to do with memory (i.e. lower memory machines have this problem more ofen than others when using Alt-Tab). Windowed mode supposedly is better for preventing this problem.
