Ship Upgrades

Hi,

Can any big base 9 + make the upgrades or is it at a ship yard . Do badly damaged ships get upgraded and what upgrade do US subs get in 4/42 ?

Only ports with repair yards will give upgrades (Pearl, Sydney, Columbo, etc). The size of the port does not matter.

Ships must be fairly low on damage to get an upgrade. The larger the ship, the less damage it needs. CV's and BB's must be 4 or lower SYS. I've seen DD's upgrade with 11 or so damage. (taking it to 25 or so)

I don't know what US subs get on 4/42. I thought most of them upgraded on 10/42, but I could be wrong. They probably get radar. Either that or they upgrade their AA weapons to 40mm or 20mm guns.

The subs do upgrade 4/42 maybe only the AA gun as you suggest . Interesting tips on the level of damage .

US subs 4/42 upgrade their .50 cal to 20 mm Oerlikons. And Narwhal (or was it Argonaut) loses most of her minelaying capacity...[:@]. Radar comes 10/42 to subs. Many of DDs get SC radar 4/42.
