Hey, Mr. Frag and/or Pry....

Post by RevRick »

We've still got a problem with #30 RAAF squadron in Sydney, I believe, in Sc. 14. It's August, and they're flying Beaufighter Mk.21s, which don't arrive until January. Think it's possibly causing a CTD in a modified Scenario I put together, but not sure.

Shouldn't cause CTD, but it does sound like they should enter with either a Hudson or a Beaufort ... anyone actually know what they started with historically?

30 Squadron RAAF was formed at Richmond on 9 March 1942 under the command of Squadron Leadr C.R. Read. The Squadron was outfitted with Bristol Beaufighters.

In mid August 1942, the Squadrom relocated to Bohle River airfield just north of Townsville.

The confusion grows:

Beaufighter's for Oz

First 72 IC's
Then 63 VI's
Then 62 Mk 10's
Then 365 21's

Always a pain with multi model aircraft. Where do you draw the line? [:D]

Okay, that begs the question - when do Beaufighters really begin to be in squadron ops? In the game it is Jan. 43. Do we let them sit there and train like bandits or wait until they are shot up and replace them with a lesser aircraft?

Yep... many versions and few slots...

It was decided by the powers that be long ago not to change the Beaufighter... It was listed in the first 5 of this is "DOA" and not going to change peroid... list I put out after 1.21

As for the CTD would have to be an art issue causing it, Rev did you load one of the modified art packs?? replace the aircraft art with the stock art and see if the CTD goes away...

Couple of possibilities - but it ran the first turn without a problem - or so it appears. The only thing I have done with art other than that which has run fine in the past is to add the P-38F in the 171 slot in the data base (and download the art file for the aircraft). I have a suspicion that it may be in some of the ships because I remodeled Midway - resurrecting Yorktown with damage, and Akagi, Hiryu & Soryu with damage and placed them in IJN ports. Got to go back in the database and see if there is a problem with a clash of air groups, or dates left in slots which should be removed.
