I know I've been away for a while but I wasnt expecting this place to go so completely dead. I mean, there's nothing here anymore aside from inconcequential complaints about nothing at all. C'mon, guys.

I have to admit, things HAVE cooled down a bit overhere, It's still GREAT fun, but I have the feeling that it used to be MORE fun......

Or maybe I am just getting used to the clowns that live in this forum.

Lets start a poll !

question:

HAS OR HAS NOT this forum changed to a LESS FUN plase in the last 4 months ???????

IT has I think .. just because the same questions come back again and again .. but I still have questions waiting for an answer because nobody could give it to me .. so if you have nothing to do, give me some answers [&o]

It's summer. I guess many people don't want to be locked up in the house staring at a monitor.
There is plenty of time to do that when old-man winter is in town[:D].

No.

Pretty much most of the people who were bringing up problems stopped posting (or have drastically limited their posting.)

There is a distinct tendency to hammer anyone who does mention the problems. Plus, i think the people saw that they were not going to get resolution on any problems they mentioned - the game is supposedly "finished" except for bug fixes.

The place overall is still the same. I just drive on with the game and stay in here with my "widdle buddies"[:D]

Problems???

Did you say problems???

How dare you say problems!!!

<sarcasm off>

There are some people who post for the sake of starting arguements about intangibles without any real facts. Looks like most folks are tired of these threads and don't bother with them so they fall off page 1 fast.

Problems on the other hand get fixed ... information is provided that allows duplication, code gets fixed, new version gets posted, etc. [;)]

I'm sorry you feel that way - I've seen a pretty fair share of skirmishing from all sides, though I may not read every thread.

Please also note that "finished except for bug fixes" means problems are still being addressed, though not new feature requests. Have you taken a look at the v1.52 limited beta?

Erik -

i was NOT referring to official 2x3/matrix policy when i say (and still say) people get hammered for expressing dissatisfaction. However, i DO think it is the de facto policy of the forum - whether it is from the majority of the members, or a vocal minority is a matter for discussion, perhaps.

I put "finished" in quotes to refer to the announced policy that there would be no future expansions of features, but 2x3/matrix will address bugs. i think 2x3/matrix is very active in addressing these problems.

i have not seen the 1.52 patch info - i was under the impression that 1.51 was in "beta", i.e., not ready for general release. i will check this out, however.

There are two primary types of threads in any game forum.

Functional threads: These answer questions and provide advice about the game. They are quite useful and important but not overly interesting. People read these threads but no one checks in at 15 minute intervals to keep up on these.

Debate threads: To what extent does the game accurately reflect history and in what ways can or should the game be changed in order to be more historical/accurate/fun/etc. These are the threads that generate heat and cause people to stay on the forums for prolonged period of time.

As long as you have a couple good debate threads going your functional threads will be very useful. Ask a simple question and you are likely to get an answer in minutes from one of the many people hanging around for the next reply to a debate thread. Once the debate threads start to die out the functional threads start to be less responsive.

Once the game approches its final state the impetus for debate drops, then viewership drops, and then finally it becomes a place to ask an occasional question to be answered by the mod (the only knowlegeble person left monitoring the forum).

The downfall started when this forum got kicked to the bottom of the listings.[:D]

I'm one of the ones that feels that "this is it". So I deal with it.
I'll be very happy when the game mechanic bugs get squashed.

However,[;)]we haven't dealt with the most serious problem.
Once the bugs havce been squashed, and Matrix stops putting out patches and such, and people stop checking the forum every 15 minuts.
How are we going to find new e-mail opponents every couple of years or so?
I DEMAND that this forum be kept at the top of the list!
