Company HQ

SPWaW is a tactical squad-level World War II game on single platoon or up to an entire battalion through Europe and the Pacific (1939 to 1945).

Company HQ

Post by dacasals »

Hi all

I have been playing to SPWAW since last year,
when I got a CD with the V2.1 of SPWAW. Since then, I haven't stop to play this game, that I sincerely think, It's the best turn based wargame based on the 2º World War I have ever seen.

I usually play the scenarios that the game brings built up, but actually, I am trying to play a campaign.

One problem that I've found when trying a Campaing is that I don't know how to purchase a Company HQ when I'm building a mixed company.
Can somebody explain me which are the steps I should follow?

Thank you all.

I dont think you can.
You cannot buy an HQ squad of any kind as a stand alone.
Company HQ's come togheter with their company's platoons only, cause they are built up this way in the OOB's.
If you want to have a mixed company, you have to live without a company HQ.
Or you can mess up with the OOB and create a custom company as fits your desires.

IIRC you can change the company units and still keep the company HQ. Buy a full company, then delete one platoon (clicking on the unit roster to the right) and immediately buy another platoon.
This last platoon should take the place of the platoon you deleted and keep its HQ.
So you can build a mixed company even if you can't buy a separate Co HQ.
Cheers.

Yes,Durruti, Sunray's workaround should fits for your needs.
But as he confirms, too, you cannot directly buy any kind of new HQ's (but for Command posts, which help rallying units around them, but dont move).

One thing I have never seen anyone mention is deleting the company hq, then buying a platoon to replace it. It works, you can replace a 1 vehicle co hq with a full platoon, or improve a hq's radios by buying a better equipped vehicle.
thanks, John.
