Problems with the Campaign generator

Post by AlR »

When I start a long campaign , using the generator after purchasing core units I dont recieve any support points??? (have tried not spending all the points given just in case, didnt work either.

Here are the details:
SPWAW v6.01

Playing Ger. Start sept 39 to june 45
I havent modified the purchase points in prefs and get given about 5000 in the core purchase phase.
Enemys: Pol-UK-Fra (intend to shift enemy as date progresses via the editor)
# of games 50.

Thats about it. Any ideas whats happening?

Thanks for any help.

Hi and welcome

Well, I think that those battles with Poland should be played with plain core to get the´m warmed to future battles.

Use all your points when buying core in the beginning. They are not converted to support-points.

I've had some battles in generated camps without support points, so start and see what happens. (with 5k youpropably don't need them anyway )

mosh
salute

mosh

If its not rotten, shoot again

Hi,

I think it might be a bug too... I encountered something strange like this (0 support points) once, it occured also on the first battle of a generated campaign. Do not hesitate to delete steel.prf, restart the game, ... You may also have to erase your save file and restart your campaign from the beginning (choice of the core units).

AlR, could you please provide a little more detail on how you change who you're fighting using the editor? I've wondered how to do this for quite some time and haven't heard it was possible.

Thanks!

If you are playing a long campaingn instead of a WWII campaign, you set 3 opponents who you play against, you can change the 3 opponents between battles and have a different mix of opponents for your next battles. The problem with the long campaign is that you don't have the flow of locales and opponents that you get with the WWII campaign.
thanks, John.

Hi Rover

Just a quick post

John G's post might well be right, as I have had problems getting the campaign generator started in SPWAW I dont know for sure if you can change opponent country during the campiagn..
But based on SP3 which is what i intended to do
If you go in to the WAWed, go into tools, edit game data, you will see countries the first box is you, the next 3 are the opponents.

Under the main directory you will see OOB's ie germany is oob70, so if you want to play germany, 70 goes in the first box, next three boxes are opponents. use a text reader to view the OOB files and work out the countries from the equipment listed. There may be a better way to do this.......If there is hopefully someone will post, or post a list of country=OOB???

Hope that helps, any problems post a reply and I will try and help you out.

Hi Air.
If you select WWII campaign (generated), you must first select you country (core), year and month of begining/end, number of battles, terrain and up to three opponents. Well, when you end one scenario you can change the oponentes and terrain.

That strange thing of 0 support points have occurred to me too. It occurs when I select generated campagin, selecting parameters, and buying troops. Then, if first battle of the campaign dont like to me (ie:an assaut as first battle) I exit the battle and begin to select another generated campaign. Well, its now, when I select the second generated campaign, when buying support troops, that I have zero support points. Sometimes its worse and the game crashes.
Desperta ferro!
